Khai-Eng has been involved in the Natural Health Industry since 1981.
Her previous life was that of an architect (RIBA registered). She has worked on projects like the Sydney Opera House, The AMP Centre in Sydney as well as many minor projects in Sydney in the late 60s/early 70s.
As a student, she won the RIBA Design award.
In the UK, she was the production architect for the New Covent Garden Flower Market (Won the Financial Times Architectural Award) in Nine Elms which sadly had to make way for other development in 2017.
When she was Senior Architect at Dacorum District Council in 1970s, she was responsible for the rejuvenation of St. Mary’s (Old Town) and Runham Road/Seaton Road Areas.
She was the architect for the first 3 Council houses with Solar panels (ca. 1977!) at Templemead in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. She was also responsible for the sheltered housing in George St (next to the Rising Sun) in Berkhamsted during her time in the Council.
Fast forward, Khai Eng started, Cook’s Delight, a health foods shop and restaurant on the High Street in Berkhamsted, in 1981. Her Restaurant/Tea Rooms were highly mentioned in Egon Ronay, Good Food Guide, Punch Magazine, The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph and others.
Khai-Eng learned about Macrobiotics, attended Michio Kushi’s workshops and classes by leading macrobiotic teachers. She served macrobiotic food in her restaurant and it was a popular destination for macrobiotic teachers, practitioners and even some famous stars.
Over the decades, Cooks Delight won many awards, the Green Awards from Dacorum, Business in Community Award, Investor in People and many others.
In 2001, Cooks Delight was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development.
Whilst running Cooks Delight, Khai-Eng did not rest on her laurels and learned about nutrition and various therapies. That became her passion. She took a course on Biontology and has included that modality into the wealth of knowledge and wisdom that she has acquired and learned.
Today she feels very privileged to help those that resonate with her approach to health. From the historical perspective of her endeavours, you can sense that she is always striving towards excellence in all that she does.
